Photography and proof

There was an interesting article in the New Yorker recently on photography and proof. People still seem to think the camera never lies, People like Ian Paisley, who has demanded ‘photographic evidence’ that the IRA have put their weapons beyond use. Would he believe it even if he saw it? Would the IRA dare bluff him with photoshoped images? I hope they work it out somehow, (and there’s been some progress made), but if I were him I’d put faith in the future not photography.
